Our new single "Winner" reviewed by Łukasz Dębowski from Polska Płyta / Polska Muzyka

Sporting competition becomes the starting point for a story about determination, perseverance, and pushing one's limits. This is precisely the message conveyed by AGE CONNECT & ROCKAWAY's latest single, "Winner (Let It Be True)."

Although AGE CONNECT & ROCKAWAY has already developed a distinct style, they don't like to duplicate their own ideas, as evidenced by their new single, "Winner (Let It Be True)." This time, the band opted for a catchy, fresh, and incredibly captivating track that perfectly captures the summer vibe, offering a moment of respite from everyday life. It's a track created with a sense of summer carefreeness, greater freedom, oblivion, and... dancing in mind. Finally, we have a track that effortlessly heats up club dancefloors. Simply a musical torpedo!

At the same time, the group remains faithful to the aesthetic they've been consistently developing for many months. This isn't a song completely divorced from their previous work, though their development and ability to navigate the latest trends are clearly audible, but it's entirely on their own terms. Therefore, this music still manages to capture something often missing in mainstream genres. The artists manage to blend contemporary pop with dance rhythms, but also echoes what once defined such music. However, the single was conceived as a proposition for the here and now. A much stronger emphasis is placed on the modern direction, demonstrating that the duo can successfully develop even if they aren't currently using guitar. An additional highlight is a sample taken from the song "Winner," which recently saw the light of day in its full glory.

Of course, ROCKAWAY's vocals were significantly modified for this composition, but this was precisely what the convention required. The vocals become an atmospheric element and complement the song's danceable nature. However, the most important element remains the energy that drives the entire composition from start to finish. Combined with the message, the single gains an additional dimension, as the band's own words capture: "The inspiration came from the spirit of sportsmanship, so the lyrics speak of giving your all, rising after failure, staying motivated, and constantly striving to become the best version of yourself."

"Winner (Let It Be True)" proves that AGE CONNECT & ROCKAWAY doesn't intend to limit themselves to a single formula. It's a consciously constructed track that combines catchiness with their own musical character and shows that the band still has a lot to offer. For now – let's just enjoy their music.

Sportowa rywalizacja staje się punktem wyjścia do opowieści o determinacji, wytrwałości i przekraczaniu własnych granic. Właśnie taki przekaz niesie najnowszy singiel AGE CONNECT & ROCKAWAY – „Winner (Let It Be True)”.

Choć AGE CONNECT & ROCKAWAY zdążył już wypracować indywidualny styl, nie lubi powielać własnych pomysłów, czego potwierdzeniem jest nowy singiel „Winner (Let It Be True)”. Tym razem zespół postawił na przebojowy, świeży i niezwykle porywający numer, który doskonale wpisuje się w letni klimat, przynosząc chwilę wytchnienia od codzienności. To propozycja stworzona z myślą o wakacyjnej beztrosce, większej swobodzie, zapomnieniu i… tańcu. W końcu dostaliśmy kawałek, który bez większego problemu rozgrzewa klubowe parkiety do czerwoności. Po prostu muzyczna torpeda!

Jednocześnie grupa pozostaje wierna estetyce, którą konsekwentnie rozwija od wielu miesięcy. Nie jest to więc piosenka całkowicie oderwana od wcześniejszych dokonań, choć wyraźnie słychać rozwój i umiejętność odnajdywania się w najnowszych trendach, ale wyłącznie na własnych zasadach. Dlatego w tej muzyce wciąż obecne jest to, czego często brakuje w mainstreamowych nurtach. Artyści potrafią łączyć współczesny pop z tanecznym rytmem, ale też echem tego, co kiedyś stanowiło o wartości takiej muzyki. Singiel został jednak pomyślany jako propozycja funkcjonująca tu i teraz. Znacznie mocniej zaakcentowany został nowoczesny kierunek, pokazujący, że duet z powodzeniem może rozwijać się, nawet jeśli nie korzysta aktualnie z gitarowego grania. Dodatkowym smaczkiem pozostaje sampel zaczerpnięty z utworu „Winner”, który niedawno ujrzał światło dzienne w pełnej krasie.

Oczywiście głos ROCKAWAYA został na potrzeby tej kompozycji wyraźnie przetworzony, ale właśnie tego wymagała przyjęta konwencja. Wokal staje się elementem budującym atmosferę i dopełnia taneczny charakter utworu. Najważniejsza pozostaje jednak energia, która napędza całą kompozycję od początku do końca. W połączeniu z przekazem singiel zyskuje dodatkowy wymiar, …co dobrze oddają słowa samych twórców: „Inspiracją stał się duch sportowej rywalizacji, dlatego tekst opowiada o dawaniu z siebie wszystkiego, podnoszeniu się po porażkach, utrzymywaniu motywacji i nieustannym dążeniu do stania się najlepszą wersją siebie”.

„Winner (Let It Be True)” udowadnia, że AGE CONNECT & ROCKAWAY nie zamierza zamykać się w jednej formule. To świadomie skonstruowany kawałek, który łączy przebojowość z własnym muzycznym charakterem i pokazuje, że band ma jeszcze sporo do zaoferowania. A póki co – po prostu bawmy się przy ich muzyce.
